Juniperus communis
Tasty, aromatic blue black berries, slightly sweet with a hint of pine. Use them to flavour mulled wine and gin, sauerkraut, marinades and slow cooked meat in a sauce; pork, game, rabbit or hare pâté. Try them with braised cabbage and salt pork or sausages add a handful of sultanas and wash down with beer or German or Alsace wine.
