Strong flavoured and slightly bitter try it sprinkled into chocolate (all forms of chocolate), over warm potatoes, butternut purée, and to flavour sugar. Ground tonka beans are much easier to use than whole beans, it will become one of your favorite!
As with nutmeg, tonka beans can be toxic and should be consumed in moderation. High doses of coumarin can be dangerous, so treat with respect and enjoy this unique spice.
