Description
Piper sanctum
This spectacular Mexican piperaceae produces very fragrant leaves that are used dry as a condiment. Its pronounced and slightly aniseed fragrance is reminiscent of tarragon. This unique aromatic herb will give a fresh and delicate taste to your spring and summer dishes.
You can find the hoja santa in traditional Mexican dishes such as tamales or mole verde but also used in a fish in papillote, a mixed salad with tuna, Mimosa eggs, a cream sauce or to flavour a mayonnaise... Dare a syrup or ice cream with hoja santa!
